GHD’s been on a roll in recent months and its latest launch builds on its wet-to-dry collection.

Called the GHD Duet Blowdry, the 2-in-1 hair dryer and brush helps you dry and style your hair at the same time using GHD’s proprietary Heat-Air Xchange Technology.

According to GHD, this technology is a “unique aerodynamic system that converts energy from airflow”.

GHD Duet Blowdry triples hair volumeGHD

It uses hot air to heat the surface of the elliptical-shaped barrel plate, and its bristles to 120 degrees. As you move the brush through the hair, this heat dries and styles your hair, adding volume and getting rid of frizz.

Built-in sensors monitor this temperature 400 times per second, to not only make sure the heat remains constant, but to make sure it’s evenly distributed.

According to GHD, this technology reduces flyaways, triples the volume, and adds 50% more shine. All with 40% less energy consumption and a sleep mode that turns the brush off after 30 minutes of inactivity.

The GHD Duet Blowdry costs £379 and is available in black, and white. It’s sold with a heat-resistant bag and cleaning brush.

The rise of wet-to-dry stylers

The GHD Duet Blowdry is the latest product to launch in GHD’s Duet range, joining the 2-in-1 dryer and straightener, the GHD Duet Style.

The GHD Duet Style looks like a large pair of straighteners and offers two modes – Wet, and Shine Shot.

In Wet mode the Duet Style uses hot air to remove the moisture from the hair. Once the hair is dry, the Shine Shot mode turns off the hot air and turns on two hot plates which work in the same way as the plates on previous GHD straighteners, such as the GHD Platinum Plus, to straighten the hair.

In Shine Shot mode the plates reach 185°C (365°F). This is the standard temperature seen across GHD’s wider hair straightener range and is what the brand describes as the “optimal” temperature to mould the hair while causing minimal damage.

Next came Dyson’s Airstrait. It lacked the hot plates but looked and performed almost identically to the Duet Style.

It comes with two modes – Wet and Dry – and only relies on hot air to style your hair. There are five temperature settings to choose from across the two modes. You can select these via the buttons on the control panel.

In addition, the Airstrait has a separate Root Drying mode that directs a concentrated flow of air from the side of the styler that is used to dry the roots. It then has a Cool Shot mode, used to finish your style.
